Great Expectations for the Eighth Season of Smallville

Several months after the seventh season of Smallville finished, great expectations have started to build up again as the eighth season is about to start, the closing scenes of the last season showed how Lex has completely turned to the dark side to become Clark's nemesis, the brain interactive construct (brainiac) gets destroyed by Clark after an extremely long pursuit that almost claimed Lana's life.

Whether or not we will see Kara again remains a question, if you remember the events that took place during the seventh season she had no choice but to go after brainiac all the way to krypton in order to prevent him from killing baby Clark but, she was apparently vanished by brainiac into the ghosts zone.

At the same time Chloe is facing some serious problems with the government as she has left several traces behind when she hacked the government databases in order to track the location of brainiac and Kara, sadly for her the only one can get her out of this legal mess is Lex but that is very unlikely to happen since he has turned completely evil.

The most interesting part of the last episode of the seventh season is when Lex finally discovers the location of Clark's Fortress in the Arctic, the quest for finding all the clues that ultimately led towards the Fortress was not easy but because of Lex's vast resources finding this hidden location became possible. It is sad that Clark was not able to get more information or training from the memory of his Kryptonian dad embedded in the Fortress because as everything points out he will need all the help he can get.

If destiny dictates the future of Lex and is very likely that he will not only take over Smallville but become the president of the US just like Clark was able to foresee during the vision that he had.

The first episode of the season is expected to be a search and rescue mission guided by Green arrow who called upon this super friends in order to find the missing Clark who was last seen in the Arctic. God only knows how Lex was able to escape the crumbling fortress but as history proves it will take more than a structural collapse to take him out. Future episodes will show how Clark Kent turns into a reporter working next to his future love, Lois.
